i just read elsewhere that i should check box a) but as i'm filing I-485 & I-130 together, how can it already be approved?

Your I-485 will not be processed unless I-130 is approved. You should check it because its only processed at later stage.

just to confirm, I check box a) because if I-130 isn't approved, INS isn't going to proceed and process I-485 anyway?
Also(now that I have your attention) I know Joe Schmo asked this but, on I-130 section C (info about alien relative) I do not put USC husband name etc there, just put none, right

You have to check (a) on I-485 Part-2 because you are a spouse of USC so Immigrant Visa is immediately available for you. You can file I-130, I-485 and I-765 together.
