How long does it take to get GC?

Hi im an American Citizen married to a foreigner that was on h1b. Weve been together actually 3 years before marriage, and after marriage we have been married for about 14 months now, and already had interview. My question is, how much longer does it usually take for the husband to get green card/status? My lawyer told me two years. Im just curious, because we want to get things established (buy a house, travel overseas, etc.)

You don't have to wait for green card to buy a house or to travel overseas. All you need is Social Security carda and passports and of course, money in bank.
GC takes a long time, more like 3 years.
