Hi
I am not sure if anyone on this board has asked this question but here it is.
My Father got his employment based green card approved in 1979. He was in India at that time but due to some family reasons he could not pursue for the green card and as a result his application was terminated.
Last month i.e. March 2003 he received a letter from American Consulate in Delhi informing him that his application has been cancelled but if there were any compelling reasons (in 1979) due to which he could not pursue his green card, he should reply to this letter stating the reason within one year.
Now my question are
1) Is there any hope of a green card if we reply to this letter.
2) Should we hire a lawyer or do it on our own?
3) Does any one know of a case similar to this?
4) Any refrences for lawyers in India
Thanks a lot
