I hope someone can help here. I filed a K1 fiance petition in the Summer. My fiance is Polish. I have a PhD in Eastern European history, and I have received a Fulbright Grant to Poland. In other words I am fluent in Polish, but I do not have official certification proving this fact (other than my PhD). In my application I pointed out my proficiency in Polish. My translation of documents was flawless. Is there any chance INS will regect my petition because the translation was done by by a certified translating service? Thanks for helping!

You can not translate your own papers. It has to be translated by a third party who is proficient both in Polish and English languages. Then the same person has to give a certificate to this effect and sign in front of a Notary Public and get the documents Notarized. INS may return those documents to you.
