Trying to do it all by myself

I'm currently under a B2 visa that expires on Dec. 2. I applied for an extension last Nov.15. I received a note from INS saying they will take between 30 to 60 days to decide my extension case. After Dec.2, will I be in status ?

The real "problem" is I received a job offer last week from a US employer. Now I don't know if I have to wait until my extension is decided to file the H-1B. If I file the H-1B a few days before Dec.2 , what expiration date should I put on my current status ?

You may file H1B, since it is considered to be both Immigrant/nonimmigrant status

By the way, it's your potential employer who has to file the H1B, not you. It may take a few months, so start early and be prepared...
