Withdrawing a jointly filed I751

I am not attesting to the accuracy of this information, but rather posting what I was told by an immigration attorney today.

If a USC wishes to withdraw a jointly filed I751 petition to remove the conditional nature of an alien's permanent residency, such request may be sent to the service center in which the original I751 was filed, however, this is simply a request and BCIS has no obligation to withdraw the petition unless they deem it appropriate.
