  • Is it possible to enter US only with Naturalization Certificate

    Hi I have a question.
It normally takes 6 week to get US passport after naturalization. I may be required to travel for very important business matter right after Naturalization ceremony, can I enter US only by Naturalization Certificate?

Yes, but you are HIGHLY encourage to go get a passport. Those certificates are easily lost, damaged, folded up, etc. etc. They're designed to be hung up on the wall in pride. Use a passport if you can. Plus the IS likes it cuz they can easily be scanned and verified.

        Hi Moondin
        Thank you. I will.
        It is very helpful info.
I have additional a bit more complex question.
If I plan to submit I-130 to
American Embassy oversea(Since it is far faster process than in the USA),
it requires me to show that my stay is temporary.
I plan to enter the country with the passport of the country,
        not US passport.
        Can naturalization certificate and
completely blank passport be acceptable as document?
        Do they(Officer of American Embassy)
care if I enter the country with US passport or Non-US passport?
[ie:No Visa Stump of the country, If USC enter the country with US passport,
A stump related for VWP should be printed on the US passport]

          - a certificate of naturalization is not a travel document, it's just a cert that you've been naturalized!
          - you will not be alouwed back into the U.S. without a valid passport

and that's the end of this story!

you could technically enter the U.S. on a verbal declaration, but i would highly recommend a passport.

              GoodSun:

You can get a passport in as little as two weeks. You would have to pay an extra fee to expedite it. Here's a link to get more info:

                Aremac and Maximu,

Hey guys, it seems to me you are talking about two completely different isssues. A passport is a requiered document for traveling abroad (except if you want to go to Canada or Mexico, because there are international treaties). It doent matter your citizenship you need a passport of any country in order to leave and enter the US.

Now, being admitted in the US is a different story. I dont know if the naturalization certificate will be enough, But you must have a green card and that document is proof of your permanent residency. It should be good enough to allow you to re-entry to US soil.

You can pay extra to get rush processing on your passport.
                  Have a nice day

                        >Under Sec.215(b)INA:

US Citizens are completely exempt from the INA as nothing about it pertains to them.

yea your right, you are suppose to have a valid U.S. passport to enter from oversea.but if you are a U.S. citizen and the inspector is satified that you are,you will be admitted into the U.S.

the airlines would get fined for flying someone without a valid passport.

cayita: Nafta (which is a an brf. for north american free trade agreement) is not international law. It's just an aggreement between three (!!!!) nations. I challenge you to argue with me that three nations make up an international subject!!!! Study your poli a bit and then come back to bark with the "big" dogs...
