Does anyone who already sent his document to INS for GC status, and he was out of status for long time, is it still necessary to go and register or not necessary?
A lawyer told him he doesn't need to, but I thought anyyone who is not GC or citizen and asylum holders needs to go and register or he will become deportable even though he applied. Am I right? thanks

If you go to register you deport if you wait interview you green card

Yes you are right. Persons who do not have GC, USC or approved Asylum needs to register. As you are awaiting AOS, there should be no problem for you.
