Are they going to send me a letter asking me to submit my passport for a green card stamp and to give them my temporary card. Please i would very much appreciate your help as i need to visit my parents in NZ in March.

      paHi back,

You will receive a Notice of Action (NOA) that extends your status for another year while the I-751 is being adjudicated. The length of time it takes to receive this NOA is quite variable. Some are sent out in a few days while others take many months. It all depends on the Service Center you are submitting your I-751 to and luck. Make sure you get acknowledgment that USCIS has received your petition so you have proof that they received it.

If you still have not received the NOA in time for your trip you can try going to your local USCIS office and getting a stamp put in your passport that will show you are in status for another year while your I-751 petition is pending.

Eventually you will receive one of two letters. One that says you have the conditions removed on your permanent resident status OR one that asks you to come in for an interview at your local office. The time to receive this letter depends on your service center (most are about a year or more).
