getting divorced with H4 visa

I want to divorce my spouse who has H1 visa (I have H4) and marry a person who is Permanent Card Holder. I already found out that I can get divorced through my countries embassy without leaving US.
How long legally I can stay in US after I divorced?
Can I get married and change my status without leaving the country?

Better try to stay with your H1 spouse until you get the green card (if you can). If you marry an LPR that doesn't give you a legal right to stay here just because you are married to him/her or have an I-130 pending.

if i get divorced while holding H 4 visa will I lose my status right away or I can I stay in the country until visa runs out (in my case the year 2005)?
