It deports the U.S.A. 4,400 Mexican undocumented people in 18 days

Phoenix, the U.S.A., 27 of September, 2003 (Notimex) - the Office of Customs and Proteccio'n Fronteriza (BCBP) informed that in the first 18 days of the Lateral Program of Repatriacio'n (PLR) four thousand 400 Mexican undocumented people have been transferred to Texas from Arizona.

The spokeswoman of the BCBP, Gloria Chávez, said to Notimex that this amount of migrantes was deported to border Mexican cities with Texas between the 8 of September, date of implementation of the PLR and the 25 of September.

"Of four thousand 400 repatriated migrantes almost four thousands 200 reside in cities inside Mexico whereas the 200 rest in the north of the country including adjacent states with the United States", including Sonora and Chihuahua, needed Chávez.

It added that American authorities are satisfied with the preliminary results with the PRL very that will conclude next the 30 of September.

Nevertheless, Chávez emphasized, that after the conclusion of the program pilot the possibility will be evaluated of extending its temporalidad I to extend it to other regions of the United States.

The PLR was implemented of unilateral way by Washington and consists of transferring from Arizona to Texas in deprived flights about 300 undocumented people daily to deport them in bus to Mexican border cities.

This in order to save human lives when complicating reingreso of the Mexican migrantes to the United States by the desert of Arizona where the greater amount of deaths of undocumented people is registered who cross the border.

In agreement with Chávez from the implementation of the PLR two deaths of migrantes in the sector of Tucson in comparison to not less have been only reported than five reported in an identical lapse a year before.

Nevertheless, numbers of the Mexican consulates in Arizona obtained by Notimex, show that after the beginning of PLR the past 8 of September the deaths of six Mexican undocumented people have been reported at least, in addition to another Salvadoran migrante.

In that sense, detractors of the program pilot consider that he has not been effective to manage his objective assumption to reduce deaths of undocumented people in the region.

Chávez assured however that after the PLR they have been reduced to the number of haltings of undocumented people in the sector mentioned in 18 percents in relation to a similar period a year before.

Also it indicated that the apprehensions of migrantes in the runner of high risk of Arizona that includes the southwestern zone of the organization where register most of deaths diminished in 34 percents.

It considered that apparently the decrement of arrests could mean that smaller number of undocumented people is entering the United States by the dangerous desert of Arizona dissuaded by the PLR.

Nevertheless it recognized that there will be to hope that concludes the program pilot to be able to determine the real reaches of the same one.

It emphasized that of the four thousand 400 Mexican migrantes repatriated under the PLR only the one percent or 52 people they have been stopped by border guards in Texas when trying to reingresar to the United States.

The program pilot has been criticized by an increasing number of detractors, including the American deputies, Raul Grijalva and Henry Bonilla, as well as activists who consider that he does not solve the problem of bottom of the migratory phenomenon and still more punishes undocumented people.

The Mexican government has expressed also his discord with the unilateral measurement adopted by the administration of the White House and in recent date he protested of official way before Washington by the implementation of the PLR.

Civil employees of both countries glide to discuss and to present/display recommendations on the program mentioned in the meeting of the Binational Commission of next November.

The PLR was implemented after Mexico rejection a proposal of the United States to repatriate by air to undocumented people to cities inside the Latin American nation.

Also the conclusion of the program will agree with the fiscal year end of the government of the United States in which federal dependencies must credit that they made use of effective form of the resources that were assigned by the Congress for the period between October 2002 and September to him 2003. That article was a little tough to read. First, how long had the 4,400 been here? Where they people recently aprehended after just crossing the border? They were relocated from Arizona to Texas?

It seems this article is referring to the aprhension and deportation of immigrants at our borders.

In any case, I fail to see your point. Many people are apprehended and deported each day at our borders............what's your point??
