I don't WANT to be so obsessive I sit here 24/7. I'm working now, which will enable my dream of being a professional handicapper. Handicapping is the sweetest job, you're your own boss, make your own hours. Best of all, you're making money with your BRAIN.

If I succeed and start making SERIOUS money with handicapping, I'll move around and "follow the tracks." There is NOTHING like seeing your horse win in front of your eyes, especially when no one else has it.

It's even better than Real Estate appraising. No banks calling screaming for their appraisal.

How does remuneration for handicapping work? Is it a straight wage or some sort of commission based on pay out / profit? What limitations are on you regarding placing bets if you are the handicapper?

The most important thing is knowing how to bet.

You play to pay as little taxes as possible if you're smart.

If my pick is a favorite, I don't play it. I will not risk $2 to make 10 cents. I really like my horses 7 to 1 and up, but even at 3 to 1 you triple your money.

People make the mistake of thinking they are gonna hit "the big one" and/or playing every race. Small bets add up, trust me.

Avoid exotic bets and maiden races. ALWAYS cover your bet, by playing Win, Place, and Show.

I guess I misinterpreted what you meant by a professional handicapper. I thought you meant that a specific track was going to hire you to handicap each race. But what you really mean is that you are going to make a living off of placing bets? Is that right?

Birthdays? The only two that I know of are Holden Caulfield's penman and Grandmaster Flash. Is there another I should know -- perhaps a certain Queen?
