INS ruined my day

something cruel happened to me
last Friday i receive the N445 notice to appear for the naturalization oath ceremony scheduled on Thursday December 5th at 10:15 am
i was so excited it has been 6 month since i had the interview and waiting to get approved
the day before the ceremony around 3pm i receive a call from the INS office in Boston informing me that not to show up to the ceremony because they are missing my A-file and have are waiting for it .
i can't get naturalized yet because they have only a temp file and the need the A-FILE ????
i was hearth broken since i had made arrangements to have friend and family members to come to the ceremony and i had to call them and inform them not to show since i do not have any new date for another ceremony
I'm so depressed it feel like a knife went true my hearth
did anyone experienced something similar ???

We've already heard this yesterday.....get over it.
It's not like they changed their mind and you won't get naturalized.
I know it's an inconvenience but life goes on and it will happen.

You are very fortunate you are in that position now.Look at the people in this board, they don't even have any idea when can they see their own family or always paranoid that one day INS will come and handcuff them. Your problem is nothing and I think you should be thankful that USA had admiited you and you enjoyed the fresh air , the clean highways, the abundance of food and excellent health care and having good health. There are so many things to thank for...

I'm sorry that you were incovinenced. The INS were not cruel to you, in fact they were nice.

Not too long back I remember reading about a legal immigrant beaten by the INS. The immigrant died at the hospital. Nothing happned to the agents who carried out the beatings.

clean highways?

If you have ever been to a 3rd world country, you would realize that not every country has clean streets and highways.

What has clean highway got to do with this? THere are clean highways here, so what? There are clean highways everywhere including 3rd world countrys. Have you been to the Bronx? I think it was the INS fault to lose the A file. You cannot just approve someone for naturalization and then just cancel that.

The word from INS Headquarters this morning is that the agency problems with the FBI are now over, and that is now approving applications for AOS and N cases.
