Lost original passport but got prove of Visa ( I-94)

Hi everybody .....This is a very serious matter to me because i do not know what to think neither what to do.
I came in the US five years ago legally and i received and I-94 at the customs office in New york where i landed.Okay now i have overstayed for 4 years now .
I am now ready to adjust my status but i am scared that when they ask for my passport i would not be able to provide them with it because i lost it when i was moving sometimes between last year and this year but i still do have the proof which is my (I-94).
I have tried to get a new passport back home (Ivory coast) but there's a problem .The country is into a civil war right now between army rebels and the governement so now that has stopped every activicties in the country leaving me with no hope. What do i need to do ? Need ur help please..
Can i still adjust my status? I came here on a B2 visa.
