i have question about citizenship it says on the BCIS (formerly the INS) website that a permanent resident can apply for citizenship after 3 years if they are married to a USC.

is this 3 years after they receieve their initial "temporary" green card? or three years after they receive their permanent green card making it a total of 5 years?

    thanks kevin

Three years are counted from the date of AOS, which the date when your initial conditional GC was issued or stamped on your Passport.
      Good luck.

but the marriage to that one U.S.C. must be 3 yrs. as well (and continue to be intact till the oath ceremony)
