The form to use is 864 if you are filing an AOS (485). Go to ins website for 864 and instructions.
THey usually want tax returns for the last three years (1999-2001) for your sponsor. W-2's for the last three years, an employment letter as evidence of current employment also. two photos of person you are sponsoring. the filing fee is 255 plus 50 for fingerprints. go to ins.gov.

I'm sorry, my question wasn't clear. I didn't mean the affidavit of support, I meant the letters that you are supposed to bring from friends, family, and neighbours to prove that the marriage is "real". Do you know anything about them Angie? Thanks for your reply.

My friend just had to do that too. In her affidavits, friends included information on time spent with the filer(s) such as vacations or day trips, recreation, etc. Anything that tells that they were just an 'ordinary' couple. They should also write where they work, for how long and their position. Also if they are a U.S citizen or not. Example: "I have known xyz for x years as a family friend. I work at xxx as a___ and have been employed there for _ years. I am a U.S citizen/LPR etc. etc.
This is information that my friend recieved from her lawyer. Good luck!

How long before the interview do you think the letters should be written? I would like to have it over with so that we have one less detail to worry about, but the letters still need to be up-to-date so what is an appropriate time before the interview?Thank you. Mia

Just keep in mind that you do not HAVE to submit affidavits with your application. It is additional paperwork that helps support your application and can be essential if you do not have a lot of other documentation of the marriage legitamicy.
So they are optional, but recommended...
