N-600 Form Q

Hello folks,
Im 20 years old and just filed form N-600. To get certificate of citizenship threw my U.S born citizen father.While filling the form. I came to the part where it ask how I entered the U.S and using what document. I being only about a week old at that time had no idea. So I called up my dad to get some answers. His response wasnt very reassuring. He said he took my birth certificate and his certificate into some office there at the border. And had the people there wrote something on my certificate and that allowed me across.

Now where does that put me?
I check "other" and attached that explanation. I included all documents to prove Iam eligible as required.
But this explanation dosent sound right to me

If your father is a U.S. born citizen as you say, you are already a U.S. citizen. Is he your birth father?

Hi inh and welcome to ilw,

We did have someone here with similar problems a few months back.

If I remember, I think we suggested that maybe the father registered his son at the Consulate in Mexico and took the paper to the border to be able to cross. Basically a child of a USC born abroad kind of thing. However years ago, the routine to do this was different to today's procedures.

May I suggest you ask your parents where did they register you in said country and ask if they needed to register you at the consulate or somewhere before crossing the border.

Also if I remember rightly, the parents may have had to register you here in the US with the certificate or whatever papers they were given.

Here is the thread I was refering to. It isn't the same as yours exactly but may give some suggestions into obtaining any further documents if needed or asking your father for more info in helping you fill in the form.

I sounds like you were a child of a USC born abroad but as it was over the border, procedures were somewhat different back then.

Yes my birth father is a U.S born citizen.

I checked over that other thread. And yes it is a case almost exactly the same as mine. Except that only one of my parents is a citizen. And Im a bit older. Luckly I had all required documents at hand to show Iam a citizen. I just need the certificate to prove it.

By the way, They received the form on friday. They Already cashed the money order. So how long should I expect to wait hear from them.
