What are the differences...

A friend married in his fiancee's home country. She then made several trips to the U.S. on Tourist Visas. She is here now on a Tourist Visa and they have turned in an immigration petition.
Another friend brought his fiancee over on a fiancee visa and they married here.
Does anyone know the differences in these two methods? The advantages and disadvantages?

Although it looks similar but there is lot of difference. Your friend who brought his fiance here and got married did the right thing.
But your first friend's wife has abused her Visa to enter the United States after marriage. Once her marital status had changed she was supposed to inform at the port of entry that she is now married and her husband lives in the United States.
There can be little problem at the time of AOS interview.
