how to get immigration visa?

I'm currently holding a H1B visa, but want to change to an immigration visa. However, my current employer has not lived up to his promise to sponsor me. Is there any other way to apply for an immigration visa? My wife has an H4 visa but wants to work. How can she change her current visa to a working visa?

Certain types of workers can self-petition an I-140 based on exceptional ability, outstanding researchers, national interest waiver. It depends on what type of work you are doing.

Your wife can find an employer willing to sponsor a H-1B or can do as I stated above.
