  • Green card

My I-485 was submitted (to Vermont) at the end of October 2002. I received the work permit and did the fingerprints lately. can someone tell me how far am I from receiving the green card?
I do not know if this may delay, but I am on H1b, and the I-485 was submited with a labor certificate based on previous employment. Will it delay the process for further explanations?
    Thanks,

normally it takes 6-12 months for GC after u receive EAD. As far as I know u can change employer only 180 days after u receive ur EAD. is that ur case? then there is no problem.

        To JFO:
After completion of your paper work at Service Center, you file will be sent to your Local INS office. It depends on work load at INS office to schedule interview for AOS.
        Good luck.

My I-485 was received in Feb 2002 and I am still waiting, my finger printing was done in June of 2002 and we have had to renew our work visa (I-765). So you may be waiting a while. I filed to Nebraska which claims to be the fastest place. Ha Ha. Hope you have better luck.

I interested in the way your papers were processed... Can you share some insights with me? I filed my labor cert through my petitioner with whom I'm only working part-time... I have another employer right now but I didn't file for any concurrent H1-B... Now my question is, when the time comes that I have to file for my I-485, can I change my petitioner with out the benefit of filing another H1 B ? I intend to have my current (full-time) employer to sponsor me for greencard...

yes, you can transfer the approved labor cert to company b, as long as the position is the same. the mere offer of employment from a second company will do..
