PLEASE can any body help, I have recently come to Canada and have found out that my husband who is a Canadian Citizen is Married in US too , I want to report about this also and I want to get a divorce too but I cannot find ne answers about what would my status be in CANADA if i get a divorce back from the country where we married, and what if I report what will happen.What consequences I will face .I applied for legal aid also and couldnt get it PLS can any body advice me what to do

I have met with one immmigration lawyer but he says that we do not deal in this kind of matter its a family matter but I have consulted some family lawyers too but no one has given me a clear picture of what exactly i should do.

You can not get divorce from your country, where you had married. You are in Canada and your husband is a Canadian Citizen, if you want you will have to get divorce from Canada. But before doing all this, you should fully investigate the situation. Whether your husband is still married to that lady in the United States or not. May be that is already over. A step in haste can ruin both lives, yours and his.
If it turns out that he is still married to that woman then before taking any action you should talk to your husband and listen to his explanation.
You should also look and explore other possibilities.

If you are confirmed that your husband is still married to that American Lady then he has committed Bigamy. Canadian laws also does not recognize that, in that case they can take severe action against your husband.

Yes this is confirmed that he is still married to her and I also know that Bigamy is not allowed , But Umesh why cannot I get divorce from another country I can submitt the papers here isnt that possible.

Thanks Umesh for ur positive reply but I had been doing a lot of investigations on him and now i know that He had an affair with that girl also and still loves her cos his attitude was not very good with me from the start so I think there is no need to talk to him cos he cheated me.
