I came in 1987 at age 15 because my father, an executive engineer with a European company, was transferred to the company's new U.S. subsidiary in North Carolina. I came on an E-1 treaty trader visa. Then, I became a professional student in college. Eventually, I married a U.S. citizen. I just filed my I-751 in June. I have been working as a Business Immigration Paralegal since 1999. I am fluent in three languages. I did not speak any English when I came. I learned it all in a rural high school in the south and I was able to graduate at 17. I have no plans to naturalize yet. I currently work for a well-known immigration law firm in New York City.
