Extension

I am in the process of asking for an extension, I have to take my NCLEX exam in July, but my visa will expire on June 15. How difficult is it to be granted an extension? Should I get a lawyer? Somebody suggested to me that the chances of being extended is higher if I hired a lawyer. Is this true?
