The most popular cultivar, the arabica (Coffea arabica), is particularly sensitive to climate change. Oriana Ovalle-Rivera, a consultant in tropical agroforestry, and her colleagues modelled predictions about future coffee growing areas based on current estimates of climate change and found that higher altitudes will become more suitable.
