  • Desk ergonomy - long hours at the desk

I'm interested in some opinions on the above.

My work involves long hours at the desk, gazing at screens, and typing and/or processing 2000-5000 words/day. What desk setup would promote the best possible ergonomy?

During lockdown I didn't invest any special efforts in ergonomy for my home setup, using several desks and spots around the home, but I've since resigned from my job and started out on my own, so an ergonomic setup is now a priority.

Standard desk height IMO is too high for long keyboard use, so some kind of variable height keyboard arm device seems a necessity. Same for monitors. Based on those criteria, I was thinking about a console similar to what I once saw at a doctor's office - with many possible adjustments; but > $ 1000. In any case, the desk itself doesn't seem so important, or less than the ability to adjust the screen and keyboard at will in height and orientation. Another option could be just about any table, with a keyboard arm and some kind of dual monitor stand.

For seats, anyone has experience with a "sitting ball"? (such as https://www.long-sheng.com/product/s...olesale-series).
