    to Racquel...thank you for your help! But here in NYC they've changed some things:

    Beginning April 1, 2002, all applicants requesting authorization for advance parole will be required to pick up the document in person. At that time, the applicant must present a valid passport or an INS issued identification card. The applicant will then sign a log confirming the receipt of the benefit. As the New York INS reviews its processes, additional items for presentation or requirements may be added. Because of security interests, no exceptions will be allowed.

      Lisa...do you really have to travel soon? Can you wait another one or two months for your advance parole? Well...silly me, as you said, its emergency . But if you can delay it, it will be better and safer for you to have AP.
