Make sure you get hired and approved for transfer of H-1b with New Employer BEFORE your 'rocky' company sinks ( fires you, goes bankrupt and etc.)

I'm H1B holder working in US with my wife. My visa is valid till Nov2006. My company is sponsoring the GC and LC application has been filed last month. But my company is rocky right now. I'm worried about the worst case scenario and thinking what to do. Does anyone help me or provide an advice in this regard? Any help would be appreciable.
