J-1 Visa Waiver

My J1 visa is subject to a two year residence requierement which means that I have to leave the USA and return after two years. To waive this condition, I'll have to apply for a Waiver issued by the Department of State.
Here are my problems:
1. When I recieved my J1 visa, I was never made aware that this is what I was agreeing to,
2. I have friends from the same country as me, who came at the same time but whose J1's are not subject to this restriction. How can this rule be selective.
3. I am married to a U.S. citizen and have a 4month old son, how can I leave them? How can I leave my husband and my son for 2 whole years? my marriage would crumble! I would not have the means to take care of my son alone in my country and I know my husband would not leave the U.S to go with me.
4. I did apply and was granted permanent residency (Green Card) about a week ago. How can they grant this to me and then tell me they can not give it to me as of yet until I recieve a waiver from the Department of State.
I read that the Department of State does not acknowledge leaving family behind enough of a reason to grant you the Waiver.
All answers would be appreciated

Hi Zandi,

Your husband's petition for you as his wife was granted, right? I think you will be okay. Immigration matters are confusing (to say the least) in this country. I think you just need to be patient and wait for all the other matters to fall in place.
