  • H1B and I-765

Hello, I am on an H1B status and am married to a citizen. We will be applying for my Green Card through marraige. Should I apply for I-765 even though I have H1? I mean I understand that I have the option of working at other places without having to worry about H1 and all, but I am sure of staying in the job I have now. Also if I am to travel right now to my home country I need to get a stamp to get back in. Does that interfere with my GC process? Also if I were to get my I-765, once I'm in US on my H1, does it cancel the H1? I'm really confused. I wonder if we should have just hired a lawyer?? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you
