Maybe it would be of help if you can tell us the visa you have before, how long was the approved stay and your current status.
If your I-94 is missing or lost file I-102 to the INS,it is probably $ 100.00.If you are saying that your visa is lost does that mean that you lost your passport?
Regardless, of the lost and if you are on status there is nothing to fear. However, if you have no documents to prove that you came here legally, even if you are married to a USC there is still complication.
We would really appreciate if you can elaborate some more details of your case so things can be clear to us.

Is it safe to assume that you lost your visa when you lost your passport?

Because if you have your passport you have proof entry stamped in it.
