VAWA is allegedly supposed to protect women, but its real purpose was to allow foreign women to commit fraud against American men. In an ironical twist, in regards to immigration, it can have the opposite result for American. A foreign man committing immigration fraud upon an American woman can take advantage of the same VAWA. So an American woman could, and often is, a victim of a law written to perpetuate fraud against American men.
