  • I-601 Approved

I haven't been a regular on this site for a few years now, but for those who remember me and my case, I wanted to share that our I-601 was approved yesterday. I'm ecstatic. I've waited years for this.

Thanks to all who gave thier advice and support.
    Have a nice day

Thanks everyone for your congratulations. We did not use a lawyer. Here is our long timeline:

03/1998 Husband entered without inspection (illegaly)
05/2000 We met and started dating
                          02/2002 Married
                          03/2003 Filed I-130
                          04/2004 I-130 approved
                          04/2004 Filed I-824
08/2004 We left the U.S. together
                          02/2005 I-824 approved
04/2005 Received form to designate a mail receiving agent from the NVC, returned immediately
05/2005 Received I-864 and fee bills from NVC, returned immediately
06/2005 Received DS-230 from NVC, returned immediately
                          07/28/2005 Case sent to Juarez
12/12/2005 Received interview appointment packet in the mail
01/13/2006 Immigrant Visa Interview, denied due to 10 year bar (as expected)
01/17/2006 I-601 officially submitted and full hand fingerprints taken
01/18/2006 Returned to get fingerprint results: came back fine.
03/30/2006 Faxed a request for an expedited decision on I-601 to DHS due to a family emergency
03/31/2006 Flew to California alone due to a family emergency.
                          04/27/2006 I-601 Approved
Waiting for 2nd appointment date to pick-up visa

                          * My father was fatally ill and I faxed letters from his doctor, my mother, and myself to DHS and the consulate stating reasons why I was needed at home. Thank God, my dad (only 53) survived and he's on the up and up.

We also filed an I-129 for the K-3 before the approval of the I-130. The package was sent to the wrong address per the consulate's error, which caused us to miss the k-3 appointment. Because I pointed out thier own error to them, they gave me a first interview date sooner than normal. (First interview dates are taking about a year after the papers arrive at the consulate.)
                          Have a nice day
