My deceased US citizen father petitioned me way back in the 90s, about a year before he died. I found a lawyer to help me revalidate this petition with my brother-in-law as the new sponsor, something like substitution of petitioner. The letter request for revalidation together with other documents proving financial capability of the new sponsor, were submitted sometime July 2007 but until now we heard nothing from them (INS). Does anyone know how long it takes to have a petition revalidated for humanitarian reasons? What are the chances? I came here in the US with h1b visa (1999 programmer) but the employer who sponsored went bankrupt and i am in limbo. appreciate any comments. thanks.
