(a) Dear Weekly Editor:
I am international Student from Burma currently studying at
University of Toledo , Ohio . My best Friend as well as my
roommate was just arrested yesterday (01/25/06) under immigration
Act in Toledo , Ohio . Two Immigration Officers came in and
arrested him under the violation of Immigration Act. He arrived
to American on the 17th of April 2001. He was a sailor and he got
down from the ship where he was working due to some political
issue. After he got down from his work place, he went of
political asylum petitions. It was some how rejected by the judge
for two times. As he applied for Political Asylum Petition which
makes him impossible to go back to Burma . Although, he has
attorney to handle his situations, unfortunately the lawyer who
he appointed since NOV 2005 was just cheated him and do nothing
for him. Yesterday then we realized the situations. The
immigration officers told him that he will be sent back to Burma
according to Deportation rule. I am very sure that he will get
arrested once he steps in to Burma . When he applied for Asylum
, Burma government has already know that he went of political
Asylum petition in the United State . So me and his families back
in Burma are so worry about him. I hope you will help us. He was
so happy that he is going to get status soon after listening
President State of Union Address. Unfortunately, he got arrested
at the end.

(b) Dear Weekly Editor:
Everybody is so worried about all the Illegal Immigrants in the
US but what about the families they leave behind when you deport
them. Nobody seems to think about us and how we will survive
thats why so many people go on welfare because you take our
families from us and we can't support ourselves let alone our
children they way the economy is now. I wish that somebody would
address this situation in a reasonable manner and try to
understand what it is that we are going through. I worry everyday
because I don't know if there going to come and take the father
of my child. Then how will we survive. My child will then have to
grow up not knowing who her father is and where she came from she
will know nothing about her heritage and her fathers and thats
not right it's bad enough that americans have to go through that
just because there dads don't wonna be around or support there
kids.
Shannon Smalley
(c) Dear Weekly Editor:
What ever happened to the "Bracero Program", in effect in Calif
way back in the 70"s ? Seems to me , we had a good program in
effect then and now mr Bush proposes such an undertaking. Who
told him about it??
Bob Warren
Fontana, CA
(d) Dear Weekly Editor:
President Bush is right, you can only secure the border if a law
will be passed to make it legal to enter the border thru a guest
worker visa. It is a fact, whether we like it or not, that
foreign workers are needed for some jobs that cannot be filled up
by Americans. And those that are here, legalize those that have
been paying taxes and is working. Those that do not meet at least
these basic requirement should be sent back and let them line up
with those that are applying to become guest workers.
Gladys Roman
(e) Dear Weekly Editor:
Last year, President Bush indicated a willingness to sign a
comprehensive immigration bill, which included an earned
citizenship pathway for those who are here illegally. Senators
McCain and Kennedy crafted a bill. Through compromise, a bill by
Senators Hagel and Martinez was passed by the Senate. But the
House refused to pass a bill and work in conference with the
Senate on a compromise solution. The person who stalled the
process was Dennis Hastert. He was Speaker of the House. But he
is that no longer. Hastert refused to allow a bill to go forward
because he had a "majority of the majority" rule - a majority of
Republicans had to support a bill being brought forward for a
vote. Otherwise, that bill got bagged. CIR was one of those
bills. Nancy Pelosi now has the opportunity to allow a CIR bill
to go forward. If she does, a majority of the House, which will
comprise members of both political parties will support it. The
key to CIR is in Speaker Pelosi's hands. This reader hopes she
acts sooner, rather than later.

My child will then have to
grow up not knowing who her father is and where she came from she
will know nothing about her heritage and her fathers and thats
not right it's bad enough that americans have to go through that
just because there dads don't wonna be around or support there
kids.

(c) Dear Weekly Editor:
What ever happened to the "Bracero Program", in effect in Calif
way back in the 70"s ? Seems to me , we had a good program in
effect then and now mr Bush proposes such an undertaking. Who
told him about it??

(d) Dear Weekly Editor:
President Bush is right, you can only secure the border if a law
will be passed to make it legal to enter the border thru a guest
worker visa. It is a fact, whether we like it or not, that
foreign workers are needed for some jobs that cannot be filled up
by Americans. And those that are here, legalize those that have
been paying taxes and is working. Those that do not meet at least
these basic requirement should be sent back and let them line up
with those that are applying to become guest workers.
