Here's a transcrip between rush limbaugh and one of his caller discussing immigration:

CALLER: Hi, Rush mega dittos. Good to talk to you.

RUSH: Thank you. Same here.

CALLER: Look, I still think Bush is going to have a hard time passing his immigration bill in the House because of all these blue dog Democrats that just got elected. A lot of them campaigned against amnesty for illegals. How can they go back to that district in two years and vote for that?

RUSH: Well, it's a good question. We'll have to wait and see. My guess is that depends on how much Pelosi and the Democrat leadership want it. These people are in the House because of Pelosi, and if they can get this done early enough, the theory is that by the time reelection comes up in 2008, nobody will remember it. But, see, let me go through this again, what happens at Democrat orientation, freshman orientation, for Democrats. Did you hear me go through this yesterday?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: Okay, so I don't have to repeat it.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: They'll basically be brought in there to say, "You like it here? Does this look cool to you? If you want to stay here longer than two years this is the way we operate."

CALLER: Right.

He's right when he says that the key for the blue dog democrats to vote for the amnesty is by passing it as early as possible and not wait...The earliest you get the amnesty off the table, the better it will be because it wont be the last thing in the mind of the voters..Next election year is not untill 08 and ill even suggest the democrats to move with amnesty first, then pass the minimum wage so that the people in the blue dog's district will remember this bill last instead of amnesty.

Come 08, they wont even remember amnesty was passed a few years ago.

It's possible, but may not be probable. Immigration will not be the top priority for the Democrats. As with the Republican party, the Democratic party's core constituencies may want investigations and more investigations into 9/11, Iraqi intelligence and WMD, Abu Gharbi, Guantanamo abuse, Katrina, etc even though there have already been investigations into most of these areas. The logic will now be the "Democratic Party" will now bring in their own witnesses to create their version of the events. If this hpappens, any moderate propasals made by either party would result in gridlock. Furthermore, you will have certain hard core Republicans, especially the Senate, that may not make this happen either.

If you want to see a similar experience what the mistakes made by the Democratic party, all you would need to do is look into the 1993-1994 Congress where the Democratic really could not get anything done. Living wage, tax increases, and other domestic priorities were squandered with the voter constituency giving Republicans control of the House and Senate. It is just now the tables have turned once again.

I believe that it's in the interests of the GOP to get something passed and soon. The president sure doesn't want Iraq, the detainees and Katrina to be the only legacy of his administration.

I don't believe immigration reform would be an all-out amnesty, not for a second, but something in the shape of the Senate bill, LIFE Act or perhaps a little bit more accommodating, but nothing like 1986.

In any case, they could blame any amnesty on the Dems. An amnesty that becomes unpopular passed by a democratic majority would be a great thing for the GOP to "talk about" in an election year.

Also, if the focus now is again on the White House, the GOP needs to salvage the Bush administration and try to accomplish some of the goals the president has already set, including immigration reform. Otherwise this presidency will be remembered by Iraq and Katrina, not the best platform for the GOP specially if they block their own president and prevent him from achieving his goals.

The Democrats need to investigate each and every aspect of the BUSH ADMIN. The country is owed an explaination on how this Admin. has been conducting itself, so it is imperative that we get down to this business as soon as the 110th Congress Convene.

First and foremost, 9/11 needs to be investigated further. Pre-War Intelligence, Halliburton record profits, Oil industry's profits, and Katrina mess. I mean, NSA program and AG lies before Congress.

I am eager to see how AG Gonzales and State Sec. Rice behave themselves, because of all the people in the Bush Admi, they are the two of the worst offenders in their conduct. AG for legal opinions which sanctioned torture and NSA surveillance program, and Rice for lying about what they knew about 9/11, campaigning for Bush in 04 and now in 06, in a posiiton which is non-political. Lastly, the Devil himself, **** CHENEY... they need to investigate his secret meeting with the OIL executives, and his leaking of classified materials to Judith Miller. Also, they need to investigate him till his heart stop working, and cross-examine his corpse...

I disagrew with Houston..We have the number in the senate, and pelosi will stwist the blue dog arms if he needs more votes and lets not forget pro amnesty small business republicans like jeff blake of arizona, jeff cannon of Utha and the 3 cubans americans from florida, that will cross over for the amnesty.

Also, have you guys noticed that tancredo and the house hard liners, endorsed mike pence? who they demonized because they didnt like his immigration proposal which i felt was terrible, but much better then mass deportation.

Anyway, i think the reason why they endorsed Mike pence is because the tancredos crazies knows that with Bush and a democratic led congress, Amnesty is a shoe in, therefore, they want an altenative immigration bill, one that wont be total amnesty, and this is where the mike pence bill comes in and their hope is they would be able to pull in some blue dogs.

The mike pence bill is a non starter in my opinion because it forces 212 million people to exit before applying, and anything that says you have to mass deport first, is dead on arrival...

Some Dems say they do not want any amnesty, but what is amnesty? This is the same group of people that defended the Senate bill as one that was NOT amnesty.

Amnesty is an all-out forgiveness and any bill that involves restrictions will be sold as "not amnesty". Dems will have little difficulty endorsing such a program. The vast majority of voters support some form of legalization for illegal immigrants.

If you combine or even integrate a one-time legalization with immigration reform people will have less difficulty understanding the new provisions. After all, amnesty is alive and well today.

Immigration "by registry" is, clearly, amnesty. Adjustment for Cubans and Haitians is also amnesty, these people are even allowed to collect welfare and few even make an issue out of that. And let's not forget that LIFE, another form of amnesty, was approved by the GOP, but I guess they call amnesty only those provisions they don't design or endorse.
