    6. LETTERS

    (a) Dear Weekly Editor:
After reviewing the new Immigration Reform bill last week. I feel
it is very insane program. We (legal alien) came up to the US
legally for studying and paid tripe prices more than Americans.
However, there is nothing that we can do in this new reform. We
just want to get a legal status to work paying taxes, buying
houses, living the US for our life legally. However, nobody care
about us even we have spent hundred thousand for our life, our
own insurance, our own expense. What we want is to getting a
legal status to work to live in this country. How come enter
illegally just paying $5000? This is only our half semester
tuition. Are we rich?? No way! We just want to work fairly in
    here! Thanks for listening.

    Benji

    (b) Dear Weekly Editor:
Regarding Ron Monks' (IW 5/21/07) letter, that was his wife's
individual decision, God does not create all people alike or else
everyone would have the same strengthnesses & weaknesses & no one
would be crossing the border illegally. Some just happened to be
financially capable to travel to another country & also
financially able to sponsor their spouses and their children
also. There are people that exist that are also financially worse
off & have no recourse. The term "lawbreaker" is in the eye of
the beholder. We could take this debate back to colonialism & say
that the Spanish, then French, then English were lawbreakers &
border crossers by claiming an entire country that was already
claimed by Native Americans. We could also carry the blame back
to the US & European powers that helped contribute to the
devastating economy that several Central & South American
countries, as well as the Caribbean experience today & have since
colonization (does the United Fruit Company ring a bell?).
Besides, when it comes down to survival, I think no law exists
that will stop humankind from trying to survive.

    atcr

    (c) Dear Weekly Editor:
I have to say I agree that many of these anti immigrant advocates
don't realize that if such a law were in place when there
ancestors came here they might be in a total different situatiuon
and maybe even one of the many who want to get in however it
takes. I would also like to know were bm has retrieved his
information that many of the undocumented immagrants are hiv
positive and feeding of medicaid? It sounds like a desperate
attempt to grasp staws that may only be a figment of ones own
imagination. Further more I just think it is hilarious that we
are so against people who want to work. Are we aware of how many
citizens we have in this country who don't want to work? What if
we were to make a trade off? would that make the situation better
for all. I am a single mom of five who is single handedly putting
my way back through school, Where is the childrens father? He is
one of those bright and righteous american citizens who would
rather be housed at county expense then pay a single red cent
child support! I have been divorced for two years and not a cent
So I say bring the ones that want to work and not just from
mexico any where **** my family line does not originate here on
my mothers or fathers side. I am a law abiding proud american.
And I rather live with people who are trying to do something to
better their situation. Then empty our jails send them to the
countries where there is no work and don't allow them or the gun
toting drug dealers in. then maybe the system can balance itself
    out.

Then empty our jails send them to the
countries where there is no work and don't allow them or the gun
toting drug dealers in. then maybe the system can balance itself
    out.
