      You are lucky to ask this coz I just got done with the process this week.

      Go the selective service site http://www.sss.gov/FSmen.htm ,download the form they have there as pdf and send it in.Within 2 weeks they will send you a letter telling you whether or not you were eligible to register.

      Mainly, show that when you became eligible, you were over 26 eg copy of passport showing when you entered US,your date of change of status date and your birth certificate.

      They will send you a STATUS INFORMATION LETTER that you can take where you need to.
