I am married to a German, we have filed for a Visa. My wife father is american, but she did not find him until the year 2000. She was 2 when he got shipped out to Vietnam over night. Her father did not sign her birth papers. She is 42 now and still feel that she should have the right to get her citizenship. My question is, do anyone know of any information about this. I know you had to be under 21 I think. Her father is tring to get some info also. If anyone has any ideal, please let me know. Thanks

The law on acquired citizenship that was in effect at the time of your wife's birth is the one that would apply. The following article may help, although you would probably also need to look at provisions regarding the marital status of her parents. If they were not married to each other, then that may affect the law that's applied.
