URGENT HELP!! Affadavit of Support of AOS. SAMMY, MOHAN, help!

Hi my AOS interview is coming up on 3/8. I need your advice. My wife petition me for GC. She is still a student at the University. She will be graduating this June. I know that since my wife is petitioning for me. She should have a job to prove that she can support me. But since she is a student, she doesn't have a job - no income. I have a job for the last 3 yrs. We have joint tax for the last 2 yrs.

What shuold I do because I heard that I may need a sponsor to fill out the affadavit of Suuport for me because my wife doesn't have income. PLS give any advice.

Your wife MUST complete an I-864 but you CAN use your income as part of the household income on the I-864. I would have a joint sponsor just in case you get an officer that doesn't understand that this is perfectly acceptable. I'm assuming that your income is enough to support a family of two....if it isn't then having a joint sponsor isn't a "just-in-case" thing it is a necessity.

Yes My income is more than enough to support a family of 2. I am trying very hard to ask friends around to see if they are willing to share their tax returns with me. But it is very hard becuase that kind of information is very sensitive. IT's not just tax returns but their paycheck stub and employment letter. I personally think that it is just too much. If I have earned enuogh to suuport the family why do they still want a sponsor??

There's always the possibility you may some day be in a position before getting citizenship where you can't support yourself--layoffs, injury, whatever. Who'd take care of you then, and keep you from becoming a public charge?

But even if my sponsor is LPR, he/she may also have the chance of being laid off, injured. Wouldn't it be the same thing though? Just wondering. There is just no guarantee that one will be employed forever. I think this is just a little too tough.

Yup, and if they are, you'll either have to find another or leave.
