    what's the difference marrying a green card holder to a u.s born citizen? marrying a u.s citizen means you get to be a citizen of the u.s right away and wont need to go throught green card etc etc?

      I'll address your second question.

      Marrying a USC does not confer citizenship. An alien who marries a USC must still become a permanent resident first. After 3 years of being a PR, the alien can then apply for citizenship.

      In my case, I became a US citizen 4.5 years after I married a USC (and I applied as soon as I was eligible).
