  • Where to file - Bronzelady or anyone, please help a confused person!

OK, this is regarding my cursed work permit renewal (I-765) which I'll be filing based on pending I-130 and I-485.

I would have filed it a while ago but I'm not sure how and where. I'm scared it will land in the wrong place and I'll lose several weeks/months wages for the THIRD time.

My AOS materials were submitted to Washington DC local office (in Arlington). I called the "misinformation" number, they told me the DC office accepts filings in person. Of course, I wanted to file in person so that at least I have some sort of receipt in hand/peace of mind/whatever. I go over there, they make me stand in long line just to confirm if they still accept filing in person. Finally, they ask me if I'm a lawyer when I say I'm here to file in person (What difference does it make, I'd REALLY like to know. I prolly should have told them I was one?). I confirm that I'm just a poor immigrant and they send me to some horrible room with what appeared to be a big zoo in it. Then some random officer tells me they no longer accept filing in person and starts ignoring me when I ask to at least tell me where to mail the stuff.

OK, I walk out with a mind set that I'll just send the stuff via cerfitied mail to the their address at N. Fairfax Drive. Then, surprise, i run into my immigration lawyer on the street, the one responsible for I-485 and I-130. She tells me that the local Washington DC INS office is moving. I ask her where to, she said she'll find out and let me know. Then I got sick of all this mess, I told her I'm willing to pay the extra fee to her to just take this **** off my hands and file it. She said she would. I ask her when I should bring the docs (copies, pics, etc) in to her office. It's been 2 weeks, haven't heard from her. I'm not going to waiting any longer for my lawyer's lazy a s s.

If anyone knows where I should send my EAD renewal application, please let me know. Also, how will I track it? Can I trace if money order has been cashed?

    Sorry for this long email

      vierce,

      Do you qualify for e-filing?

        I do.

But several people told me they experienced delays longer than usual when they e-filed. I don't feel like e-filing after I heard of their pain.

Plus, if I e-file, where would I have to go for my interim EAD if they screw up the deadline like they did on my last 2 EADs?

wtf, can someone explain this pls (posted on my local office's website):

            Cashier:
All customers, other than attorneys, need a referral in order to file an application with the cashier in Room 210. Attorneys may file applications with the cashier until 12:00 Noon Monday - Friday.

            1) why be so nice to attorney who is already swimming in my money and doesn't so s h i t for me anyway?

            2) AND MOST IMPORTANT: anyone knows how to get a referral?

            thanx
