Oh yes....you will be displeased to know that there is NO type of visa that will allow your second cousin to come to the US and change bed pans for an American citizen...none....so crawl back to your dilapidated trailer and shut the door.

You need to start with the here. Basically, it is through the au pair program, but it may be possible to go through the H visa route, generally the H-2b visa.

            Good luck to you.

...first, you WANT to hire the person from overseas, you DON'T NEED to hire this person.

Hire an American - you might just have heard that we have 10 percent unemployment!

              DON'T HIRE AN ILLEGAL ALIEN.

An illegal alien is already in the US and that was not the point of the OP's qeustion Sunfried. Try to keep up.

And those who are Constitutionally challenged as Sunfried, nothing in the Constitution guarantees you a right to a job. If the person wants to hire someone from their country, where culture and language are probably more important than where a person is born, then that is one of the job requirements.

ole Hudson knows jack about our visa laws....H2b visas are for seasonal workers, and there is no season for changing bed pans....nor are they to be used for anything relating to nursing....they are for unskilled labor...nor is a B1 appropriate if the disabled person is an American citizen or green card holder....

You are confusing the word "temporary" with the word seasonal S12. The H-2b visa has a maximum time of 3 years can be obtained.

Second, since the person will not qualify for the H-1b visa in most cases, it will provide time for the workder to get the credentials within that time, including the renewals.

A caregiver can be a nurse, but most are not and they are generally not even LVN's either.

sorry Hudson...better read the laws...one of the key elements of H2b visas is that NO AMERICAN IS AVAILABLE TO DO THE JOB..."..now I know that you, like most immigration attorneys, don't care at all about the average American worker, because you lack patriotism, (and immigration attorneys are inherently greedy) but in this case, the OP will have to prove, that in a nation of more than 300,000,00 people, that there is NO ONE who can wipe a behind nor change a bedpan....in addition to the usual seasonal aspect of H2B workers....so shove this idea and your willingness to sell out your fellow American up your (likely) unused U-No-what.

It is not "No American" S12, it is <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">that there are not sufficient U.S. workers who are able, willing, qualified, and available to do the temporary work. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

This will depend on how to define qualified. If a language other than English has to be one of the qualifications, it will eliminate 99% of the potential applicants.

I know the law S12 and I know how to apply the law as it is written, not what you think it should be.

you know zilch about our laws....have you interacted with the Dept of Labor on H2B issues?? No...but I have....and the bottom line is that an ethical employer (which leaves out the OP) has to show real proof (not some self crafted letter) that NO American is available to do the job.....hardly true given today's unemployment rate.....so you just continue on trying to justify importing cheap labor while selling out your neighbors to the lowest bidders.....bet you get few invites for summer BBQs....oh yes, Oh Knowledgeable One...the applicant must convince the consular official that (a) they possess some qualifications to change bed pans and (b) they intend to return to their third world cess pool of a country at the conclusion of their 'seasonal' bed pan changing.....sure.....that is real likely....but why don't you tell our listening audience why you think it is OK to import labor from any rat-hole country in the world and displace an American worker....let's see how much courage and patriotism you have....
