i married a student from kenya! here in the US in the stat of Ohio! I was wondering is our marriage legal with out a visa first meaning that are we still not really legally married in the eye of the law because i have not filled out paper yet for her to get her green card or a fiance visa? but we are married and have a marriage lic since 10/17/2005

If you obtained a marriage license and went through a wedding ceremony you are indeed married. Her immigration status is separate. If you are a USC you can now start the process of filing for a green card on your wifes behalf. Go to www.uscis.gov and look up "permanent residency" under FAQ

You are married in the eyes of the law regardless if you filed for green card or not
