  • Plz help (re entry permit )

    Hi,
I am a green card holder.
    I have had 2 re-entry permits
my first visit was in 2006 (1st re-entry epxiry aug 06)
    i wil make my second visit in 2008 (2nd re-entry expiry 2008)
now will i be able to get another 2 yr Re-entry permit
    My reason is that :
I have to finish my degree(2006-2010) in India and that I will surely be entering USA in 2010 as I want to do my Masters degree out there and stay there

What are the chances of permit being granted
    Thank u

      Hi Kunal,

Welcome. Not sure of the answer, but below is contact information for USCIS. Give them a call. I'm sure they can give you a quick answer. Good luck.

I thought that reentry permits were valid for a period of two years. So, if the first reentry permit was issued in 2006, why did it expire in August, 2006?

USCIS does look into how long one has been outside the USA and ties to the USA when issuing re-entry permit. If the absence has already been long, re-entry permit may be denied or issued for 1 year.

When did you become a permanent resident? How many years did you live in the USA prior to 2004?

Why don't you ask for Info Pass appointment, at the nearest uscis off in your area, and ask the same questions.

In past USCIS has allowed students of Foreign Colleges and University to continued their education. and they used to issue a letter in this regards. I think they also have a form, you need to find out from the uscis, or check with National Customer Service Center. 1-800-375-8375 if I am not mistaken. check before you call.
