    hello H1-Jerusalem,

Its odd that you weren't told that you were selected for addition clearance/administrative processing. My advise to you would be to stay patient.

Its a coincidence that I received my clearance today! After 13 months, the webpage finally updated my case-number. What a relief!

In the meantime, I applied to the FBI for my criminal record. The application is basically a fingerprint form and a payment of $18. I was amazed to get response by mail within 3 weeks. Its surprising that the FBI inquiry took a mere 3 weeks compared to the "processing" that is required for the special clearance.

Anyway, its a brand new beginning for myself and my family with another chance to return to the US where we feel we belong.

I hope your case in resolved soon.

My case is a little bit different than everyone I have seen online. I have been in the US since I was 17 (24 now). I received a job offer right after graduation and went back to Jerusalem to visit for the first time. In my H1B visa stamp interview, the interviewer ended the interview by saying, “enjoy the rest of your stay in the US, you should receive your passport in a week or so.” This week or so has been going for almost 5 months now and every time I or my employer tries to contact the consulate we get the same generic response Stuck In Dubai got. The only fault I could think of is either me being Arab or the fact that I went to the States on a tourist visa then switched to F and now H without ever leaving. I had my interview on 9/9/2008.

I contacted the Dept.of State's visa office at 202-663-1225 (press 1 then press 0) and was able to talk to a person after being put on hold for just 5min! that was great compared to the local Dubai Consulate office which takes atleast 10-15minutes.

Anyway, the 'Visa Specialist' was polite but not of much help. In her thick accent, she said that all she has in front of her was the database that only indicates whether a Case is under process or not. Unable to provide any details, she told me that my Case is 'under process' and that its best to let the process complete.

Nothing much left to do than wait....

    Hello all,

I have been in the US for a long time. I went there to study, got my degree and have been working as H1B worker for about 4 years. I have a son who is a US citizen.

Last december, I came with my wife and son to Dubai to visit family and applied for H1B entry visa because my previous F1 visa had expired and my status had changed after graduating and accepting a new job.

At the interview, I was surprised to find out that H1B applicants were interview only after everyone else! Anyway, after 3 hours of waiting, the interviewer had very few questions after which he said that due to my name/age (Arabic Name/30), my application needs to undergo a routine administrative processing / security clearance from Washington before the visa is issued. I was given a yellow-sheet with a Case-Number and URL URL to check when the clearance comes in.

It has been 2 months now and my number has still not shown up!

The guys at the consulate have the same party line when inquired on the status of my case by phone or email:<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> Our records indicate that your case is currently undergoing
administrative processing as part of our security clearance procedure.
We are unable to predict the time required to complete this process.
Your case will appear on our website once the clearance process is
complete. You can use your case number, issued to you during the visa
interview, to locate your case on our website. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Little do they care that like any normal legal non-immigrant worker, I have a home, a job, friends and a life in the US. My kid goes to school and I pay taxes. My folks at work have been very understanding. I have been working remotely as much as I can. basically, our lives are in suspension. Its crazy!

My boss has also tried contacting the local congressman's office and the consulate has given the same response to them as they did to me. But they are still trying. Let's see what happens.

All of this is interesting because the same consulate has issued visa to me on 4 previous occasions. New regulations are getting the better of me. I hope this doesn't take much longer. I am tired of checking that **** URL every day.

I saw that someone posted the phone and email of the Visa Office in Washington. I will try to contact them and see if I can get ANYTHING!

Just wanted to share with you all this dreaded experience. If any one of you all have any advise, please let me know.

    Thank you.

    Peace.
