congratulations, ramachandran! all the very best. you are the 3rd person that i know of who got his I-687 approved. i see that you live in wyoming. atul in oklahoma and bala in indianapolis got their approvals recently too. it seems that the cis centers in these "remote" locations are approving I-687 faster than the ones in the big cities like miami and new york city. i have been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for ages for my adjudication. does anybody have any comment on this observation? can anybody shed some light on this one?

              Hi Intimidator:

I would highly recommend Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen and Loewy. I used them to file my CIS late amnesty settlement. Here's its website URL:

              http://www.fragomen.com/

The firm has a large office in Washington, DC.

              1212 New York Avenue, NW,
              Suite 850
              Washington, DC 20005-6145
              USA
              Office Phone: (202) 223-5515
              Office Fax: (202)371-2898
              Email: DCinfo@fragomen.com

The attorneys are top notch and very much on the ball. Several of the senior partners were very high ranking officers in the old INS.

The only drawback is that the attorneys are very pricey. It cost me about $5000 to file my I-687 application but the package that they put together was excellent. You get what you pay for, right? They would not take the case if they don't think you have a chance of winning it. If they don't take the case, you're out $1000 for a consultation.

The CIS officer highly respected the Fragomen attorney who accompanied me to the interview. I could tell because they were discussing some incredibly complicated case that the CIS officer was currently adjudicating. It was right after my interview and I had stepped outside the office but I overheard them discussing this other case while I was waiting for the attorney. He referred the officer to three recent cases that went to the court of appeals, and the officer thanked him profusely.

              I hope this helps.

could somebody tell me whether $5000 is a reasonable fee for an attorney to file an I-687? My friend told me that he paid an attorney $250 to fill one out for him. when i saw the above posting for a lawyer charging $5000, i choked. i was thinking of $500 being the high end. what do you think?

does anyone know if the National Benefits Center are approving these applications or is it the CIS district offices? i see that the longtime Discussion Board members who got their approvals live in the boondocks. I thought it's supposed to adjudicated be "first in, first out" at the NBC. Any thoughts?
