    If a person got laid off from his work after working for a company for six years, then he collects unemployment insurance benefit. Does collecting unemployment benefit consider a public benefit or not for immigration purpose.

      Hi Zeid

      No, collecting uc benefits is not a means tested benefit, nor is it a public charge. You paid into the unemployment ins and if quarter earnings are met, then you are qualified to collect 26 weeks. this is not relative to immigration matters.

        Have you, ever received public assistance from any source, including, but not limited to, the United States Government, any state, county, city or municipality?

        Does collecting unemployment insurance benefit applied to this question. In case yes I have to apply for a wavier I-690.
