Mobis, I realize that you are stressed out. But, you need to take one step back. Explain us the situation. I am sure someone here will be able to help you.
First of all, what do you mean by the first question?

Also, what is the current immigration status of the detainee?

How did he end up in prison?

He got in into a fight with somebody that call him a bad name. but they were both found guilty. but that is no the case. The other guy is enjoying his life (the one that cause all the problems). This is all i can explain so far.

hey mobis,am sorry your friend is in deep **** ,well ,it depends on what visa he is or is he here as a refug...,then he will not be deported .but your story sounds strange ,u sure was fight huh .please ,i will like to get the whole story and his criminal history !!cos there are so many ways to get around this .ok

Was your friend sentenced for a crime? And, during his time in jail did they find out he was
here illegally?

If the above is true the ICE (INS) may have put a detainer on him. This means after he has served time for the crime he is to be held for immigration purposes. Under these circumstances I think he will be deported.

well, i do not think that the liberian embassy is giving out travelling documents at this time for deportees. i called the embassy and they did not give me a good response.
as for your second quetion. if someone is held in immigration detention for six months or more and if its not certain that he woud be deported in the nearest future, and this is only assuming that he his cooperating fully with immigration authorities and is not the one impeding the deportation by not allowing them to be able to get the neccessary documents needed for his exclusion from the u.s from his embassy,then under the law he has to be released. hope this answers ur questions
