Just a quick question I hope you guys can help with.... I recently sent off my I-751 to have the conditions taken off my marriage based green card, we were a little late getting it sent and as such it is going to be past the date my green card expires before I get the one year extension letter... the question is... am I still able to work in the period between my card expiring and when the letter arrives, it should be maximum of 2 weeks to the end of the 30 day period they say to wait for the letter?

Appreciate your thoughts on this

No, since you allowed your status to expire, you may no longer work.

Eeyore, did you send the form before GC expiration date? if yes, it does not matter when you receive the letter as your status will be automaticly extended... you only won't have a prof of it for a while.

Yes, the form was sent before my GC expires, its still current now, but if the extension letter takes the full 30 days to come, it would be a couple of weeks after my card expires.

Spoke to lawyer, he said not to work, which I accepted and didn't, as it happens it didn't matter, I got my letter granting me another year and ability to work during that time two days before my gc expired :-)

If you sent it before the expiration, you can work. Your initial post implied that you did it afterward.
