Alabama Proves New Law Isn't Racist

Not everybody has a DL including USCs and LPRs. The guy in question was a German on business with a rented car using his German DL. It can't have been a German ID card as the article suggests as the rental car co wouldn't have let him use their rental car.
The sentence has been deleted by the administrator for violating the discussion board rules.
More on this story. The German did have a German DL and it affirms that everybody has to carry ID in AL which under Federal Law is not the case as of yet. Effectively this law is not just about illegal immigrants as it purports to be. AL is the beginning of a Police State "Show me your papers" society. Period.

No Brain Brit is wrong as usual. In Alabama it is illegal to drive without a license. Previously driving w/o a license was an infraction. It is now a misdmeanor and the law requires that the driver be taken into custody and presented before a magistrate.
The new Alabama law also requires that aliens carry their immigration documents with them, as Federal law does as well. This is not a new or unique requirment for aliens. It has been Federal law for many years.
It was the German's mistake not to carry not only his German DL, but also an International Driver's License and his immigration documents, which in this case is his passport and I-94 or the passport with the admission stamp.
So, as usual, No Brain Brit is wrong on all counts.
I just hope the next time No Brain Brit drives without a license, the cops take him in.
Oh, and No Brain Brit, it has been long illegal in most states to drive without a license. So there is no "beginning of a Police State."
If only No Brain Brit had a brain.

So fedNUT, if somebody who doesn't drive, has no DL is walking down a street in AL and jaywalks and the cop thinks ("reasonable suspicion") they might be illegal, does he/she get arrested and taken to the cop-shop for not having acceptable ID on them? If so that is a Police State IMO."What you see in the photograph isn't what you saw at the time. The real skill of photography is organized visual lying."

Well done wingnut AL politicians. Why not scare potential new international businesses from ALThe view from a German perspective:
Mercedes exec arrested under Alabama immigration law
The executive was caught up in the controversy surrounding an Alabama law passed in June, which is widely considered to be the strictest in America. Most of the law, which requires police to verify someone’s immigration status if officers have a “reasonable suspicion” he or she could be in the United States illegally, has been upheld by courts so far, despite challenges by civil liberties advocates.

I'd say Bentley must be really embarrassed by his ill-conceived law by now."What you see in the photograph isn't what you saw at the time. The real skill of photography is organized visual lying."

Not at all. How can you cite and release someone for which you do not know their identity? If you did that, no one would produce ID and give a fictitious name and address to the officers. In most jurisdictions the police will arrest you for infractions if you don't have ID or they can't find ID for you in the databases.
Get a brain. Use it. Or loose it.

You lost yours many years ago fedNUT. Your view of being ok with it will lead the USA into a being Police State and you won't even recognize it. Why I bother "debating" with you I don't know. As Aroha said, I might as well beBeside it's all moot as once AL's law is found to be unconstitutional, all those arrested under it will have good cause for wrongful arrest. I hope AL has plenty of $$$ for the court cases and payouts.
